Lake Forester interview with Lisa Watters, Benny's mother

Benny Watters, the 5-year-old adopted brother of the Forester football team, passed away in the early morning on September 8, 2010, after a three-year battle with a brain stem tumor (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma - DIPG).

Benny and his family have made several visits to campus and joined the squad for numerous activities, including the 2010 team photo in late August. In the fall of 2009 Benny served as an honorary team captain and was out on the 50-yardline for the traditional pre-game coin toss.

Benny touched the heart and soul of everyone he came in contact with, but especially his Forester family. His strength became a inspiration for a football team and his courage set a standard we could all live by.

Benny was so proud to be a part of the Football team, the only reason he wanted to go to Kindergarten was so that he could get all the way to college and play on the team. Please join Benny’s friends and family as we honor his life and his dreams by supporting the Benny Watters Memorial Annual Scholarship . This award will be presented annually to a deserving Lake Forest College student with financial need in Benny’s memory.
